Detailed Narrative Description of Project:

The purpose of the study was to find out the optimum approach for technical assistance for vocational training in Samoa, and to produce basic data on the labour market and what people do at each level.

The specific activities involved were:

i.      Description of the present state of supply and demand of the labour market

ii.     Conducting a survey to gather data on the supply and demand in the labour market

iii.    Propose a conceptual strategy for assistance in the form of a 5 year plan for JICA to use as a guide to providing technical assistance for vocational training in Samoa

Detailed Description of Actual Services provided by your Company:

Co Managing Director:

§         Drafting questionnaires for Supply & Demand Surveys

§         Undertaking consultations with JICA

§         Drafting the 5 year plan for TA in vocational training

§         Editing final report

 Senior Consultant Schuster:

• Drafting questionnaires for Supply & Demand Surveys, selecting samples, recruiting & training surveyors, daily supervision and briefing/debriefing surveyors
• Data entry, tabulation & analysis for both surveys
• Drafting final report and incorporating input from JICA
• Conducting consultations with JICA, Samoa Polytechnic & NUS
• Briefing CEO and senior management of MESC on behalf of JICA

 Research Assistant:

• Assistance with recruitment & training of surveyors
• Assistance with drafting questionnaires
