Coordinated the field work of the mission and
preparation of the evaluation report based on the UNDP format. The
field work involved consultations with the private financial
institutions, the Bangladesh Bank, Ministry of Finance and aid
donors in Dhaka. Past project documentation on the financial sector
reforms and assistance to the Bangladesh Shilpa Bank (BSB) and
Bangladesh Shilpa Rin Sangstha (BSRS) by the World Bank, Asian
Development Bank and UNDP. |

Detailed Narrative Description of Project:
The evaluation centred around the assessment of
technical assistance provided by ADB and UNDP to BSB and BSRS to
upgrade the operational systems for loan restructuring and
rehabilitation; and train local personnel in these development
finance institutions. The evaluation was required to determine
whether the freeze on assistance to BSB and BSRS could be lifted. |
